Allied Services’ History
On February 5, 1958, a group of community leaders met with a goal of enhancing services for people with disabilities in the
Allied's first initiative was a vocational center for workers with disabilities. In the 60s, a rehabilitation hospital was built and residences for adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities. By the 80s, behavioral health programs were added, a skilled nursing center was built, a new, larger rehab hospital was built in
In between, Allied has also constructed medical office buildings and opened 15 outpatient rehabilitation clinics. By founding and sponsoring National Rehabilitation Week, Allied has taken a leadership role in promoting the capabilities and unmet needs of people with disabilities throughout the nation.
